I’ve been wanting to get to these for a while now. Well, since December 29, 2014 to be exact. These photos are from my trip to Northern California. The reason for the whole trip was so Kurt and I could stay in San Francisco to celebrate New Year’s Eve together. However, we arrived early so that we could travel up North and see all of it’s beauty. By the third day, we stumbled upon a town called Ferndale where we met a gentleman at a sweet music store. During the middle of the conversation, when talking about the town and all it had to offer, he asked us if we had a 4×4 vehicle… confused, we asked why, and he told us about The Lost Coast. We immediately got into our car and traveled 20 miles up a rough hill, through deserted area and farmland, and down into wonderland. As we were driving, I had no idea that the Pacific was even in front of us. When I finally realized, I was blown away. BOOM. There it was. Here, in front of me, was this incredible landscape – surely one you can only see in movies and books (I thought). This place was really only populated by Mother Nature. It felt as though we left California and entered into a totally different world. There were no cars, no people to run into… just this; an 80 mile stretch of California coast. I learned that the builders of Highway 1 decided to go around this because it was deemed too rough. The cars, the people, and the noise keeps a good distance away, and that’s something you can really take in.
As I get older I understand that these are the moments I live for. The feelings I seek. The experiences I can’t totally explain.
